Am I the only one that didn't like Star Trek (2009)?
I stopped halfway (I think even less than that). It just had too much annoying CGI that gave me headaches, confusing parts that only Star Trek fans will get (wasn’t it a film even for non-Star Trek fans to enjoy?) and the guy that played Kirk was annoyingly miscast (Chris Pine). Spock was good, actually. He was well cast.
Though, I’ve always wanted to watch Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan. Should I watch or not? Because, obviously, I didn’t enjoy the 2009 film at all.
The new Star Trek is supposed to be a movie understandable even for someone who has never seen any Star Trek, so I’m surprised you were confused. What parts didn’t you understand? They did slip things in that only a Star Trek fan would catch (such as recognising that Scotty has a tribble in a cage on his desk or well-known phrases used by the characters), but you weren’t missing anything important if you didn’t catch them, they were put in as a wink to the Trekkies.
The Wrath of Khan is the best Star Trek movie in my opinion. Give it a go. It was made in 1982, so it is unlike most modern films that overload with special effects to keep everyone’s attention. You might want to watch the TOS episode "Space Seed" first, because it’s the background of Wrath of Khan.
I enjoyed the new Star Trek film, although the abundance of lens flare distracted me a bit.

I haven’t seen the 2009 version of Star Trek so I can’t comment on how good / bad it was. But I would reccommend seeing the Wrath Of Khan.
Davo | Nov 15, 2009
If you didn’t like this one you shouldn’t watch The Wrath of Khan. I thought they were both great movies. Then again, maybe you will enjoy William Shatner’s overdramatic acting.

Might a real wuss-type of guy be better able to take care of himself in a post-nuclear war world, than today?
Imagine a guy who is either a real weenie who can’t go toe-to-toe to save his life; a fat
uncoordinated nerd with no athletic ability; or an old man with no friends. Imagine these guys in a nasty gang-infested neighborhood and for whatever reason, they can’t get out of that
environment…
In today’s world, this type of guy will either be picked on, perhaps murdered "just for
kicks" OR he’ll use a weapon to defend himself from the bullies – resulting in him going to prison where he’ll likely end up somebody’s bee-yotch (he’ll REALLY be a little fish in a lake of sharks then. He’ll be unarmed in a world full of the worst degenerates society has to offer!)
Why? Because the only way of fighting which would put him on equal footing with the
bullies (a gun) is a sure ticket to prison, in a "civilized" law-based society! The state empowers his
tormentors even further than nature does.
But after a nuclear war, there would be no laws, no state, and no prisons to be sent to! I also suspect that most fights would be settled with guns, when they were available (I’m thinking
mainly about America here – 200 million guns and I’m sure the survivors would find all the guns and ammo they needed after the missiles stopped flying.)
At that point, it seems to me that our wimpy friend would be in a much better position
to deal with the bullies, predators ect.; after all, a gun works just as well for a wuss as it does for a tough guy, and will kill a tough guy just as easily as anyone else. And nobody wants to get shot (especially in a world with no hospitals.) Also, armed wimps/weak men would likely band together, becoming basically as formidable as the tough-guy gangs at that point. There would be a
balance of power which didn’t exist before.
Could it be, that the tough, bullying "alpha-dog" type of guys actually thrive best in a civilized, law-governed, state-based stable society with things like gun control (or other laws which punish armed self-defense), medical technology, ect. but the wimpy guys would do better if the world went all to hell and civilization collapsed? That bullies do best when PROTECTED? Ironic but true, so it seems to me…
There are so many things to be accounted for if a nuclear holocaust were to happen. It’s basically your survival skills…If such a situation were to occur, there would be no law, and no rule as you said. Gangs would still roam around, killing innocent travelers, no different then a situation u were talking about before a nuclear holocaust. and it would come down to your ability to defend yourself. Then after that, it would depend on your scavenging skills, you need clean food and water to survive. You need to not only be strong, but smart and logical.
So to answer your question, I don’t think a scrawny person who can’t fight, can adequatly survive a nuclear holocaust. You need smarts and you need brawn.

The lead female character in the movie Diamonds Are Forever is standing at the edge of an offshore oil rig. As she fires a gun, she is driven back over the edge and into the sea. Suppose the mass of a bullet is 0.007 kg, and its velocity is +738 m/s. Her mass (including the gun) is 60 kg.
(a) What recoil velocity does she acquire in response to a single shot from a stationary position, assuming that no external force keeps her in place?
______m/s
(b) Under the same assumption, what would be her recoil velocity if, instead, she shoots a blank cartridge that ejects a mass of 5.0 10-4 kg at a velocity of +738 m/s?
______m/s
It’s easy; a momentum issue. Mass x velocity = mass x velocity. Rather simplified though, because in the first case the burning gases aren’t considered and they’re a major part of recoil. Like a jet exhaust shoving you back.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars
|
IMDB rating: 8.20 Plot: Robot Chicken’s finest half hour is more savvy than Spaceballs, more inside than Family Guy: Blue Harvest, and funnier, even, than The Star Wars Holiday Special. This Very Special Episode of Comedy Central’s stop-motion animated series parodies and goofs on all things Star Wars, from a disgruntled Empire janitor to an ad for Admiral Ackbar Cereal (”Your tongues can’t repel flavor of that magnitude”). Twenty three minutes goes by like the jump to hyperspace with such priceless bits as the collect phone call to Emperor Palpatine from Darth Vadar to inform him of the Death Star’s destruction, awkward morning-after pillow talk between Luke and Leia (”That was so wrong”), and George Bush’s newfound Jedi powers. Co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and company immerse viewers in the Robot Chicken universe with generous bonus features, including storyboarded deleted scenes (with self-deprecating commentary), behind the scenes footage of animation meetings, and alternate audio takes. Good sport George Lucas, who gave his blessing to this episode, boldly goes where William Shatner went before by voicing himself in a Star Wars convention sketch that concludes with a Lucas-worshiping geek telling his son that meeting his idol was the best day of his life. What about his son’s birth? “Not even close,” dad replies. But you don’t have to have that kind of devotion to Star Wars to be amused by this weather forecast for Cloud City: “Cloudy, followed by clouds.” |

Star Wars Robot Chicken vs. Family Guy opinions?
in your opinion which one of these shows is funnier? I havent seen something something something darkside yet so please dont spoil it for me. but you can include Blue Harvest and all the star wars references in Family Guy. vs. Robot Chicken Star Wars episode 1 and 2. what are some of the best moments from both?
Robot Chicken – the best program ever produced by human hands!
……….It’s Alive!!!!
Morpheus | Dec 30, 2009
In general, I prefer Family Guy over Robot Chicken. But when it comes to the Star Wars specials… Just the opposite.
Blue Harvest was great, Something Something Dark Side is a considerable step down I think. I like the pacing of the Robot Chicken Star Wars tributes better. They set up the joke, knock it out, and move on. Family Guy is still trying to be Family Guy, so at least some of the time is spent hammering on already tired Family Guy character cliches (Meg is ugly, Peter is stupid, Stewie is gay, Brian is smug, Lois is obnoxious, et cetera et cetera et cetera). Robot Chicken is just more diverse in style and focuses more on the main attraction.
bcgm3 | Dec 30, 2009
both family guy and robot chicken are great shows in my opinion. all round i would have to say family guy is better because to me every episode is good. some better than others but there has never been any bad episodes in my opinion. but robot chicken has had some episodes where i haven’t laughed at all but some are Absolutely hilarious where im crying because im laughing so much. basically family guy is more consistent.
but i am a huge star wars fan and for the star wars parodies i have to give it to robot chicken. i have both of them on dvd and watch them with my friends and they still get me laughing (well who’s they? and what the hell is an aluminium falcon? lol) the second one being even better than the first and i cant wait for the third to be released. meanwhile family guy blue harvest was awesome as well. i wont spoil anything for you but i have to say that something, something darkside was a letdown for me personally. good laughs in the beginning and end but th e middle seems to just drag on with no real laughs. more like they just recreated the movie but left out the humour.
as for favourite moments from them. i have to say for robot chicken i like any of the skits with palpatine. vader: what is thy bidding my master? palpatine: my bidding, how about i bid thee to stop ramming the ship into f%#@ing asteroid fields? can you handle that. or take your kid to work day with the storm trooper. or admiral ackbar on $10,000 pyramid, the word is trap. friend:a boobie… ackbar: is awsome. all of them were good and i love the extended edition on the dvd version.
and i love the cutscenes in family guy. (forget insurance all i want is a railing)
